Summary/Abstract
This is a 2011 IEA Clean Coal Centre progress report on CCS readiness throughout the world with regard to the legal and regulatory framework development that is critical to CCS deployment. Chapter 2 of the report reviews the evolution of CCS and examines various opinions on the value of CCS as part of a climate change mitigation strategy. Chapter 2 also outlines legal and regulatory framework issues at the global and national levels. Chapter 3 of the report examines framework progress and other CCS related activities in a representative group of countries and the EU. Chapter 4 identifies next steps that may facilitate CCS development and advance wide-scale deployment.
