Summary/Abstract

This report addresses the commercialization of emerging environmental sustainability technologies and provides case study material based-on carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS) technology. It was developed as part of the U.S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory Project “CarbonSAFE” being conducted by the Prairie Research Institute–Illinois State Geological Survey Division, at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign.

The report contributes to the overall project Task 5.0 – Permitting and Compliance; Subtask 5.1 – Policy, Regulatory, Legal and Permitting Case Study. For this subtask, CCS business development assessment information was assembled to assist in identifying local, state, and national regulatory and policy positions impacting the establishment of a CCS storage complex.
