Summary/Abstract

This IEA Clean Coal Centre report provides a review of China’s CCS research and development (R&D) programs, including the scope of the activities as well as the various funding sources. This is followed by a description of the associated CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and other utilization trials being undertaken by Chinese industrial enterprises, which link back to the R&D activities. The report considers the relative importance of CCS international co-operation ventures for many of the types of CCS projects, and considers the overall framework and rationale behind the various agreements. Finally, comment is made on the likely impact, both internally and on an international basis, arising from China’s current activities and possible future plans.
