Summary/Abstract

This paper examines the effectiveness and appropriateness of iron fertilization in reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations. The costs and benefits of iron fertilization will be discussed from a scientific standpoint, as well as its coverage under international law. Recommendations will be made for how this fairly new technology can be addressed in existing international agreements in order to prevent damage to the ocean, as well as the generation of erroneous carbon credits.
