Summary/Abstract

This article proposes a legal framework to harmonize the overlapping and conflicting international regulatory regime on ocean iron fertilization. The article, through an analysis of the legal framework governing the LOHAFEX project, identifies the need to address conflicting regulatory mandates of the United Nations Law of the Sea, Convention on Biological Diversity, and the London Convention and Protocol as related to both experimental and large-scale ocean iron fertilization projects.
